The Effects of Microcurrent for Anti-aging Treatment Plans and Overall Skin Health
Microcurrent uses a device to reenact the way our brain relays messages to the muscles. It’s commonly used in Bells palsy and stroke patients. In the treatment room I use it to strengthen and tone the muscles in the skin by stimulating the motor nerves by contractions of the muscles.
I use microccurent in my antiaging facial protocol. As we age we not only lose collagen in the skin but our impulses slow down which makes our skin sag. Microcurrent speeds up the rate at which the body naturally heals itself and when done correctly it will lead to firm and healthy skin. Think of it as a workout for your face. Not only will the skin become more firm and toned but increase circulation in the skin and product absorption.
“The following are contraindication of microcurrent:
pacemakers, epilepsy, cancer, pregnancy, phlebitis, or thrombosis. Microcurrent should also not be used on anyone currently under a healthcare provider’s care for a condition that may be contraindicated. If you are unsure about treating a client, refer them back to their healthcare provider to obtain consent
Open wounds, muscular diseases, advanced diabetes, pacemakers, epilepsy, cancer, pregnancy, hemophilia, phlebitis, thrombosis; anyone currently under a healthcare provider’s care for a condition that may be contraindicated
Typical recommended use of microcurrent treatments with injectables: wait two weeks after the injection procedure”

Just like when this is done once a week in a series of 10-12 treatments and then once every 4 weeks to maintain the results. I made sure this is one of the devices in my treatment room because its so underused to maintain aging skin so I knew it would not only set me apart from other estheticians but get you results you haven’t seen before.
Inflammation is one of the top 3 categories to focus on when healing the skin because it can lead to more concerns and make the skin overreactive.
